Cory Lambert is a wildlife officer who finds the body of an 18-year-old woman on an American Indian reservation in snowy Wyoming. When the autopsy reveals that she was raped, FBI agent Jane Banner arrives to investigate. Teaming up with Lambert as a guide, the duo soon find that their lives are in danger while trying to solve the mystery of the teen’s death.
The fact that this movie flew under so many peoples radar should be a crime. The generally somber tone is gripping, and although the casting choices may have been risky, the performances are interesting and haunting.
Actor-turned-screenwriter Taylor Sheridan makes his directorial debut with this smart, solid murder mystery, which makes excellent use of the beautiful snowy locations.
Long after the credits end, this movie (one scene towards the end of the movie in particular) will stick in your head.
