Inspired by the imagination of P. T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman is an original musical that celebrates the birth of show business & tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.
Amazing. Beautiful. Inspiring. Touching. Magical. Uplifting. Heart-Warming… I could go on and on but there are not enough words to describe how perfect this movie is!
As I’ve later found out, P. T. Barnum was anything but the greatest guy in real life, so I guess this is just a glossy, happy and fictional biopic – but who gives a damn when the movie is so good?!
Everything from the fantastic all star cast, to the beautifully designed costumes and sets, all the way to the excellent songs which will be stuck in your head for days like an ear worm, are pure perfection.
Jackman is at his best (sorry Logan), with his natural charm and charisma.
Usually every musical has at least one song you skip on the soundtrack, but there’s none of that here – although the best tunes are probably This Is Me or Never Enough… the film versions, not the dance-pop remixes which have been played on repeat in every gay club for the past year.
