A Quiet Place

2018 (UK), Horror/Thriller, 1h 31m

Starring: Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Cade Woodward & Millicent Simmonds

In a post-apocalyptic world, a family is forced to live in silence while hiding from monsters with ultra-sensitive hearing.

An intriguing premise makes ‘A Quiet Place’ an essential horror flick because of its understanding of the genre, and a cast that absorbed you into their terrifying world.

Husband and wife duo Blunt and Krasinski lead this movie to silent, chilling perfection, showing The Shape of Water’s Sally Hawkins how to carry a film with a multitude of depth, without any dialogue.

The movies ingenious sound design includes the gentle cadences of nature at its most quietly reassuring, and used its pace to build up stressful moments that have very satisfying payoffs.

There are heaps of beautifully shot cinema, and a taut script which produce a fantastic horror experience.
