Love, Simon

2018 (UK), Drama/Romance, 1h 50m

Starring: Nick Robinson, Jennifer Garner, Josh Duhamel, Katherine Langford, Miles Heizer & Keiynan Lonsdale

Everyone deserves a great love story, but for 17-year-old Simon Spier, it’s a little more complicated. He hasn’t told his family or friends that he’s gay, and he doesn’t know the identity of the anonymous classmate that he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.

The high school teen romcom for 2018; for all its attempts not to offend, it’s a genuine groundbreaker.

Tender, sweet and affecting, this is the movie that gay teens might not have even known they needed, but when they watch it, they’ll find themselves deeply reflected – I wish there was something similar to this when I was younger.
This movie is funny, heartfelt, and truly touching. The emotional resonance here may be surprising given the moves relentless gloss, but it’s real.
Everything from the writing, directing and acting is pitch perfect, and Nick Robinson deserves more praise because his performance is beautiful and shows a perfect visual representation of an insight into what it’s like to ‘come out’ at a young age.
