Previously thought to be extinct, a massive creature attacks a deep-sea submersible, leaving it disabled and trapping the crew at the bottom of the Pacific. With time running out, a visionary oceanographer recruits rescue diver Jonas Taylor to save the crew and the sea itself from an unimaginable threat — a 75-foot-long prehistoric shark known as the Megalodon.
The Meg is Jaws for the lowest denominator, and proud of it. I’d rather be eaten by an actual shark than subject myself to watch this again.
It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with it’s boring human characters when it could be spending it with, you know, the giant CGI shark!
I only wanted to see one thing… Jason Statham punching a shark in the face – and even though we did get loads of his typical stupid action scenes, he did not do this one thing! Goddammit.
The one scene I was looking forward to was the beach party attack, expecting it to be similar to the one in Piranha… but Piranha it was not.
I really needed to go to the toilet half way through, but decided to stay, because if I would have left I would not have came back.
